Inspiron 6000 ipw2200 WiFi LED in Ubuntu

To get the wifi LED to turn on in Ubuntu Linux:

1. If it doesn’t exist create /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200
2. The file contents should be: options ipw2200 led=1
3. Reload the module or reboot

Under Breezy it wouldn’t always come on immediately after connecting to a wireless network. It was a little random.

Update: Dapper doesn’t seem to be any better.
